Craft - DIY Crochet Cord Necklace

You will need: A very chunky hook! 9mm
T shirt yarn in 2 colours
Make a slip knot and chain 3
Keeping the loop on your hook pick up the next chain (ch) and crochet through to make another stitch (st) on the hook. Repeat this a 3rd time.
No slip the two left hand loops off the hook and pull the yarn through the right hand first loop.
Next pick up the loop to the left and pull the yarn through again.
Finish by repeating with the last/left hand loop.
Now repeat this sequence again and again! Remember to take the 2 left hand st/loops off your hook to begin as this pulls the yarn into the cord drawing the sides together into a lovely little neat tube.

This is what the piece looks like from the back before its a tubular piece.

Finish by knotting a contrasting piece of yarn at the back fro an extra pop of colour and to add an extra design detail.

Craft - My Craft

Here is very small selection of some of the work and accessories I have made in the past 3 years. Sometimes painstaking, fiddly and often undone but always completely absorbing and full of exploration and joy. I do to love craft.

Crochet for beginners-Granny squares.

We are almost at the end of the first (hopefully of many) Granny tastic crochet course, run by Yours Truely at The Brighton Sewing Centre. Last week the lovely Ich bin ein baum came along and took these pictures to show y'all how we roll on a tuesday night.

The next course of 4 evening classes will be up and running mid July...

Get involved.

I had lots of help from dear friends during the final stages of my degree, thank gawd. They are a talented bunch! Photos by jackie & louis, worn by meg

My first foray at Funn (A/W 2008)

They call me twinkle toes...

Funn is a marvellous family company based in Steyning, Brighton. Founded by Karen and Graham 40 odd years ago, this crazily creative pair make beautiful hoisery on traditional knitting machines. I work freelance for Funn and have a super time creating whimsical embellished hoisery, and occasionally costume pieces for historical film, because all the hoisery made at Funn is based on vintage and historical patterns! Their imagination is endless, and hearts are as warm as their feet!
